Return Visit to the Rotary Club of Lausanne-Ouest
From September 28 to October 1, 2025, members of the Rotary Club Belgrade Terazije visited Switzerland, returning the visit to their friends from the Rotary Club Lausanne-Ouest.
The delegation of our club consisted of President Nikola Stojanović with his wife Bojana, Club Secretary Andrija Ranković with his wife Milica, and the Incoming President Aleksandar Bolić.
This visit represents the continuation of friendly and professional relations established earlier that year, in March, when members of the Rotary Club Lausanne-Ouest visited Belgrade.
Details of their visit can be found on our website.
Visit to the Regular Club Meeting
During their stay, our members attended the regular meeting of the Rotary Club Lausanne-Ouest. Club President Nikola Stojanović presented the activities and projects of the Rotary Club Belgrade Terazije, followed by greetings from our hosts, including Jean-François Richter, the incoming District Governor of District 1990.
Richter has been a member of the Rotary Club Lausanne-Ouest since 2008 and will serve as District Governor for the 2027–2028 Rotary year.
Throughout his engagement with Rotary, he has served as Club President, District Rotaract Chair, and Assistant Governor for the Lausanne area.
Exchange of Gifts and Strengthening of Friendship
During the meeting, the presidents of the two clubs exchanged Rotary flags, symbolizing the lasting friendship and cooperation between Belgrade and Lausanne. On this occasion, our members also presented commemorative gifts to the hosts, expressing gratitude for their hospitality and for the shared values embraced by both clubs.
Visit to Dubois Family Winery and the Rolex Learning Center
As part of the program, the hosts organized a visit to the Dubois Family Winery, located on the shores of Lake Geneva (Lac Léman).
In a beautiful setting, our members enjoyed wine tasting and a conversation with the Dubois family about the winemaking tradition and production process in the region.
Later that day, they visited the Rolex Learning Center, situated within the University of Lausanne campus. This architecturally impressive building, whose unique shape resembles Swiss cheese, is dedicated to training and education focused on innovation and precision — values that Rolex proudly promotes.
Meeting with the Serbian Diaspora in Switzerland
During the visit, our members met with representatives of the Serbian Business Club “Archibald Reiss.” In a pleasant and inspiring atmosphere, discussions centered around business opportunities, professional experiences, and the challenges faced by members of the Serbian community living in Switzerland.
Excursion to the La Gruyère Region
On September 30, the hosts organized a tour of the picturesque La Gruyère region. The delegation visited the Cheese Museum, where they learned about the traditional production process of the famous Gruyère cheese, as well as the Callier Chocolate Museum, dedicated to the history and production of one of Switzerland’s most renowned chocolates.
The day concluded with a visit to the Gruyères Castle and lunch at Le Chalet de Gruyères restaurant, where our members enjoyed authentic Swiss cuisine.
Conclusion of the Visit – A Day in Geneva
On the final day of the trip, October 1, our members spent the day in Geneva, enjoying a walk through the old town, sightseeing, and relaxing by the shores of Lake Geneva. This visit further strengthened the friendship between our clubs and opened new opportunities for future joint projects.
Appreciation to Our Hosts
The Rotary Club Belgrade Terazije extends its sincere gratitude to our friends from the Rotary Club Lausanne-Ouest for their warm hospitality and generosity.
We owe special thanks to Christian Scherr, Mark Ivanov, and Žarko, who generously devoted their time to showing us the beauty of Switzerland and making our stay truly unforgettable.
Their kindness and dedication are the best example of the Rotarian spirit of friendship and connection.
